About Discflow

Description is where this field started, not where it should have stopped.

Behavioral assessment has been telling people who they are for forty years. Discflow exists because knowing your pattern and being able to change it are different problems, and only one of them had been solved.

Where the field stoppedA line rises to the moment a report lands, then splits. One path decays away over the following weeks. The other holds, lifted at three points where guidance arrives.DAY ONESIX WEEKS LATERWHERE THE FIELD STOPPEDWITH FLOWCONNECTTHE REPORT

Change that holds.

The view we built on

Everyone recognizes themselves. Then nothing happens.

Anyone who has run a behavioral assessment across an organization knows the pattern. The session goes well, people are genuinely engaged, the language sticks for a couple of weeks — and then two people with the same profile do completely different things with it, and a year later nobody can point to what changed.

That is not a failure of DISC. DISC is a good description, and the established instruments describe well. It is a failure of stopping at description.

So we built three things rather than one. A behavioral profile, because you need to know the pattern. An Emotional Intelligence layer in the same report, because how well someone reads a situation and adapts is what separates two people with identical styles. And FlowConnect, because behavior changes in a specific difficult conversation on a Tuesday, not in a workshop three weeks earlier.

How we work

An instrument, and a network of people who deliver it

Certification is worth what it gives you, not what we might send you. We do not sell it on a promise of referrals, and it is worth being wary of anyone who does — a credential that depends on someone else's pipeline is not a credential, it is a waiting list.

What you get instead is an open field. Certified Trainers are not restricted in who they can work with, in any sector or at any size, and we do not go after work a practitioner is already in. Our own corporate clients come to us directly; that is a route into the same network rather than a competing one.

  • Builds and sells direct

    Discflow HQ

We develop the instrument and the platform, and we work with corporate clients who come to us directly. If you contact us about a rollout, you are talking to the people who built it.

  • Deliver to their own clients

    Certified Trainers

Coaches, consultants, trainers and internal L&D teams, certified to use the full suite with their own clients or their own organization, at fees they set themselves.

  • The senior tier

    Master Trainers

The most experienced practitioners in the network. They certify others, deliver in-house certification, and run the twelve-month programs.

What we do claim, and it is checkable

Several providers measure DISC and Emotional Intelligence. What they produce is two sets of results and a commentary on how the two interact. Ours are blended at the point the narrative is written. The same behavioral style produces different text depending on the Emotional Intelligence scores underneath it.

Same style · higher awareness of others
"You lead with the conclusion, and you notice when it lands badly. You adjust, in the room."
Same style · lower awareness of others
"You lead with the conclusion, and you don't notice. You find out weeks later, if at all."

Not two reports stapled together, and not a paragraph explaining that the two relate. One narrative, generated from both. It is the difference between a report that describes a combination and one that is written out of it.

Character, stated as rules

What we have decided not to claim

This is a market with a lot of confident language in it. These are the sentences we have ruled out, and they are the fastest way to know what kind of company this is.

  1. We do not claim this predicts performance

No behavioral assessment does, ours included. What it describes is how someone tends to operate and how readily they adapt — which is useful for development and useless as a forecast. Anyone selling you a behavioral profile that predicts who will succeed is selling something the field cannot support.

  2. We do not say our instrument is validated and leave it there

The evidence is published with its own limitations attached, including that norms are provisional and parts of the validity program are still open.

  3. We do not score, rank or screen candidates

Fit 2.0 is built for interviews and onboarding, and it gives an interviewer better questions to ask and a head start once someone joins. What it never does is produce a number that sorts one candidate above another. No Discflow report ranks people, and none should be used to decide who gets hired or promoted. That costs us business from buyers who want a score to justify a decision, and it is not negotiable.

  4. We do not argue that other DISC tools are poor

A buyer who already owns one did not make a bad decision. Our argument is about what description alone can do, not about anyone else's instrument.

Our position

The model is nearly a hundred years old. What was built on it stopped moving.

DISC has been in workplace use since the 1920s and it has held up, which is not true of most things that old. Four styles, observable behavior, a language people can use about each other without it becoming an insult. That endures because it is genuinely useful and because it is usable by the people it describes rather than only by specialists.

What moved less is everything built on top of it. For most of the last two decades the competition in this category has been about packaging, platforms and price rather than about what is being measured. Reports got longer and considerably better designed. The thing they described stayed where it was.

Meanwhile the demands changed. Teams became more distributed and less permanent. Structures flattened, so more people manage and fewer are trained to. Change stopped arriving in projects and started arriving continuously. And the amount of time a manager gets with any one person went down, not up.

Description was enough when the job was awareness. It is not enough when the job is adaptation, at speed, with people you do not know well.

So we added the layer that decides whether a description can be acted on at all. Emotional Intelligence is what separates two people with identical profiles: one reads the effect they are having and adjusts inside the conversation, the other finds out weeks later. That is not a refinement of DISC. It is the question DISC was never designed to answer, and it is the one that determines whether anything changes.

  1. The first move

Measure the thing that determines whether anything happens

Behavioral style plus Emotional Intelligence, in one assessment, blended in one narrative. That closed the gap between describing someone and knowing whether the description could be acted on.

  2. The second move

Close the distance between knowing and doing

Because measuring both was necessary and still not sufficient. A report is an artifact. It is read at the moment it is produced, which is almost never the moment it is needed.

This is where the field's second stall sits, and almost nobody names it. The problem after a good assessment is not a shortage of insight. It is distance — between the insight and the Tuesday afternoon when it would have been useful. Three weeks and one difficult conversation is enough for the most accurate report ever written to be entirely beside the point.

So FlowConnect is not a companion app or a content library bolted to a report. It is the answer to the question the report leaves open: guidance written in advance for every behavioral profile, reached at the moment someone needs it rather than the moment we produced it. Before the conversation, not after the workshop.

Which is the whole position, stated plainly. Measurement is the beginning of the product, not the end of it. A company that believes the report is the deliverable will build better reports. We think the report is the easy part, and that the difficult, unglamorous, genuinely useful work is everything that happens in the weeks afterwards — which is exactly where this field agreed to stop.

  • Description is a starting point, not a product

A profile that ends at accurate description has done the easy half. The question a buyer is actually paying to answer is what someone should do differently, and when.

  • The instrument should be usable by the person it describes

Reports written to be interpreted by a specialist create dependency on the specialist. Ours are written to be read by the person, which is harder and matters more.

  • Measure the part that can change

Behavioral style is stable, which makes it a poor thing to re-measure and a good thing to understand once. Emotional Intelligence moves. That is where development effort should be pointed, and where it should be assessed.

  • Insight has to arrive when it is needed

Guidance filed in a report at the point of measurement is guidance the person has to remember to go and find. Most will not, and that is not a discipline problem. It is a design problem, and it is ours to solve rather than theirs.

  • Say what the evidence supports and no more

The temptation in this market is to let the language run ahead of the data. We publish the limitations alongside the findings, including the ones that are still open.
